Safety Goal: An advancement in power steering, Electronic Power Steering (EPS) saves weight, space and fuel.
How it works: The EPS electronic control unit (ECU) provides control over the vehicle steering (using electrical power assist). EPS systems are particularly useful on very small vehicles because they replace the power steering booster module. This results in weight and space savings as well as improved fuel economy. The steering wheel transducers input signals; the outputs are the signals to the electric motors that actuate the electrical power assist steering.
